President - Matthew Martinez, MD, FACC, FASE
Dr. Matthew W. Martinez is Enterprise Lead of Sports Cardiology for Mayo Clinic Foundation. Dr. Martinez serves as a cardiology consultant for Major League Soccer, the NBA players association and several other professional leagues and teams. He is an author on the Sports Cardiology Clinical consensus document and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy guidelines. He regularly presents on Sports Cardiology and Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and is the prior Chair of American College of Cardiology’s Sports and Exercise section. He is one of the founders of the Sports Cardiology Society. |

Vice - President - Jonathan Ho-Youn Kim, MD, MSc, FACC, FAHADr. Kim is a Professor of Medicine and Founding Director of Sports Cardiology in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine and additionally holds an adjunct Professorship in the School of Applied Physiology at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Bachelor of Science at Emory and was a Fulbright Scholar before attending Vanderbilt Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital and cardiology fellowship at Emory (chief fellow 2013-14). In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Kim conducts NIH-funded (current R01) sports cardiology research at Emory. He is the Team Cardiologist for the Atlanta Falcons, Braves, Hawks, United, and Dream, and for Sports Medicine at Emory and Georgia Tech. Dr. Kim consults for numerous other NCAA Division-I sports programs. Dr. Kim is a member of the NBA Cardiac Advisory Committee and NFL Cardiovascular Task Force. Dr. Kim is the immediate past-Chair of the American College of Cardiology’s Sports and Exercise Cardiology Council. |

Treasurer - Silvana Molossi, MD
Dr. Molossi is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine and Associate Chief of Cardiology, the Heart Center at Texas Children’s Hospital. She graduated from the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil, completed clinical and research fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Hospital for Sick Children and received a doctorate degree in the departments of Pathology and Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Toronto, Canada. She has been involved in screening athletes for >20 years, holds the Vice-President of Science and Research position for the Championship Hearts Foundation and is on the Medical Advisory Board for the National Coronary Anomalies Foundation, non-profit organizations. Dr. Molossi served as Co-Chair of the American College of Cardiology’s Sports and Exercise Cardiology Council from 2013-2016 and remains active within the Texas Chapter of the ACC. She is the Medical Director of the Coronary Artery Anomalies Program at Texas Children’s established in December 2012 and is the co-founder of the International Coronary Artery Anomalies Collaborative (ICAAC), an international team of experts furthering the knowledge in coronary artery anomalies. Dr. Molossi is also a founding member of the Sports Cardiology Society. |

Co-Treasurer – Eli Friedman, MD Dr. Eli Friedman is the Director of Sports Cardiology at the Smidt Heart Institute and Cedars Sinai Health System where he also serves as the Associate Program Director for the cardiology fellowship. He completed medical school at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago and then trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Friedman is the team cardiologist for the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Galaxy, cardiology medical advisor to the Women’s Tennis Association, a member of the United States Tennis Association’s Sports Science Commission, and he serves as a consultant to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Combat Sports Anti-Doping Program. He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology’s Sports and Exercise Leadership Council. Dr. Friedman’s research currently focuses on return to play for elite athletes with cardiovascular disease, cardiac structure and function in athletes with disabilities, and tactical athletes. He spends a significant amount of time delivering education to stakeholders in sport on the recognition and treatment of cardiac arrest with CPR and AED use. He has led training initiatives from professional to community level sporting organizations including the WTA, USTA, and MLS. |
